Qu’est-ce qu’un verbe irrégulier ?
Un verbe irrégulier est un verbe qui n’est pas conforme au modèle habituel de conjugaison. Un verbe irrégulier en anglais est un mot qui a ses propres règles de conjugaison, et la langue anglaise compte plus de 200 verbes irréguliers.
Pour rappel, pour conjuguer un verbe au passé de l’anglais, il faut inclure « ed » à la fin.
Par exemple : « to like » => « She liked ».
En anglais, les verbes irréguliers prennent des formes spécifiques au prétérit et au participe passé. La seule façon d’utiliser la forme correcte est de maîtriser ces mots par cœur.
Comment se souvenir des verbes irréguliers ?
Pour maîtriser les verbes, nous vous suggérons d’utiliser le tableau à quatre colonnes ci-dessus. Vous devrez cacher quelques colonnes et essayer de les deviner.
Il est impossible de maîtriser la totalité des 200 verbes dont vous avez besoin en une seule journée. La meilleure méthode consiste à maîtriser 10 mots par jour, et de préférence pendant 15 minutes au début de chaque journée.
Avec cette technique, vous serez en mesure d’obtenir tous les verbes irréguliers, sans vous faire travailler pendant 20 jours.
Combien de verbes irréguliers avons-nous en anglais ?
Il y a environ 200 verbes qui sont irréguliers en anglais. Cependant, il y en a beaucoup plus si vous incluez les formes variantes qui ont des préfixes.
